School Counseling Program
School Counselors help every individual who are a part of the school system; Students, Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Administrators. They focus their skills and knowledge base in the three counseling domains which are laid out by the American School Counseling Association National Standards, Academic, Career, and the Personal/Social. A School Counselor's role is to help aide all stakeholders in the pursuit of a positive educational career. At the younger grade levels a school counselors role is more focused on the successful development of each student in social and behavioral skills. The academic and career domains are also encouraged, but with an emphasis on the personal/social. As students continue in their pursuit of learning the need for further guidance in the other two domains are emphasized. All three domains are essential in a student's successful academic career. School Counselors are a partner in a student's success, partnering with the parents to help them acclimate to the educational system and guide them with new strategies to aide their students on the road to academic success.
